If hate speech is a crime, how does the westboro baptist get away with what they do?

The lawsuit was thrown out by the Supreme Court. For the most part, the first amendment protects whatever a person wants to say, no matter how stupid or hurtful. The people of the Westboro church are despicable. I'm glad they are allowed to say what they want, however, because it means I get to say what I want, too.
